स्वानंद को इस गीत के ज़रिये फिल्म की शुरुआत में ही बर्फी का चरित्र बयाँ कर देना था। हम अक्सर किसी गूँगे बहरे के बारे में सोचते हैं तो दया की भावना उपजती है। पर इस गीत में बर्फी के चरित्र को इतने खुशनुमा तरीके से गढ़ा गया कि बर्फी के बारे में सोचकर उसका हँसता मुस्कुराता ज़िदादिल चेहरा उभरेगा ना कि करुणा के कोई भाव। -Manish
