ARR returns to his O saaya type vocals, somebody should tell him to stop singing. -Vibhendu
It’s a song with no well-defined musical structure. It seems to have been composed organically for the words written by Irshad saab which talk about “finding your true self”. Rahman sings in his trademark Rehna-Tu ish manner. After Kamil’s self-liberating cry “खोल दे वो गिरहें, जो लगाये तुझ पे तू…”, the composition changes its gears and picks up the pace. The sound soon becomes operatic. Eventually, it segues into Safarnama, which is the essence of the film. -Mihir M
Dear Mr. A. R Rahman. Please see the best gastroenterologists in Chennai. Advise you consult them immediately for the noises coming out of your upper orifice. Regards and Best Wishes. -Ketan
Does not work as an audio-only experience. -Aditya
This is the song of the film that asks everyone who feels like they are living a life different than what they truly are, to be themselves. An extremely thought-provoking song, with deep-rooted and inspiring lyrics that is sung with eqal emotions by AR Rahman. -Vikas
Very interesting blend of different musical cultures which is ARR's strong suit. He had used Alma Ferovic in Rockstar too very interestingly. Haunting use of the orchestera in the latter part of the song. -Sunil
Anything other than operatic sound effects? -Ashok
ARR sings this song which flits between a song for the broken hearted to a song of redemption. There are some operatic touches (chorus et al) which break the tedium and the orchestration is quite intricate. I liked it but the repeat quotient isn't high. -Subrat
