Fantastic spoof on tunes that were the 'essence' of the 80s... the lyrics, tune, and the entire arrangement is 'awfully' perfect. Getting Bhappi da to sing the song is a sheer stroke of genius! Jiyo 'Disco Dancer'!! -Armeen

It's hard to have a 2011 song and that too one sung by Bhappi Lahiri turn out to be better than a Kishore-Asha song even if the original was in the HFM's musically dead decade of the 80s. I don't know who gets the credit: Bhappi of the 80s for the base tune, Vishal-Shekhar for the fabulous make-over or Bhappi-Shreya for singing their hearts out. Love the way the composition goes into folk mode for Shreya and the disco mode for Bhappi. More than anything the singers seem to be having a blast and in the process getting us involved as well. -Ketan

Vishal-Shekhar seems to have specialized in taking old genre songs and dishing out chameleon like copies/new songs. First it was R D Burman, then LP and now Bappi Lahiri - they seem to be enjoying their time apeing the old-timers. This one sounds very much like the Mawaali songs. Bappi sounds weathered and choked - cannot hit the high notes anymore. -Shashi

Vishal-Shekhar deliver a bass-heavy bouncy reworking Bappi's uii ammaa and get the original composer to warble along with Shreya Ghoshal, who does what Lata did in chunarii sambhaal gorii (which, along with pyaar me.n dil pe maar de golii may also have had something to do with this song); I wish Ghoshal had done a bit more Sunidhi (Asha) before the song turns into an overt tribute to the Disco days of Bappi-da. -George
अस्सी के दशक में बप्पी लाहिड़ी ने इन्दीवर के साथ मिलकर जीतेंद्र - श्रीदेवी - जयाप्रदा की तिकड़ी पर अपने कई हिट गीत दिए थे। उई अम्मा उई अम्मा और झोपड़ी में.. उस ज़माने के हिसाब से निहायत घटिया किस्म के गीत थे। वो ज़माना गया तो बप्पी दा भी गए पर विशाल शेखर ने ये काम खूब किया उस पीरियड की फिल्म का संगीत दिया तो बप्पी दा की आवाज़ वापस ले आए। अब फिल्म ही 'डर्टी' है तो गीत थोड़ा डर्टी होगा ही पर यही उस समय की वास्तविकता थी जिसे श्रेया ने इस गीत में पूरी मस्ती के साथ बखूबी उभारा है.. -Manish
