Jury comments
Hariharan's singing is a bit strained, but otherwise a good composition. When was the last time one heard the sound of pakhawaj in a Hindi Film song? -Aditya
-Pavan
The name of Hariharan on the credits evokes much expectations. And he does not disappoint. Sober, sublime and soothing - describe his vocals. The music never wavers and keeps up the dramatic elements at an even clip. -Shashi
Hariharan too sounds past his singing age. -Ketan
Hariharan hasn't sounded this good in a long time while Gulzar's lyrics are above average. The composition is average though. -Subrat
Good vocals. The drum beat is nice. Strings and guitar are key factors in the essence of the song's emotion. The flute sounds cool. -Malini
Hariharan sounds lazy or is it the tune? There is a taan in the middle of the song, perhaps to portray the 'kashmakash' but entirely too muted, maybe due to poor execution (?). Refreshing though after all the pop tunes. -Armeen
Probably Hariharan's only Bollywood song in 2011, but what a song! Fabulously orchestrated, the mridangam being the highlight. -Vipin
Hariharan has done full justice to the song. Again, it sounded like a song written and composed for Hariharan. -Sowmya
Great use of the 7-beat cycle; Hariharan's vocals seem a tad restrained and less adventurous; the brief glimpses of vocal prowess at the 3:20 mark are not as clear as I would have liked them to be (a bad take or careless mastering?) -George
