Welcome to the fourth RMIM Puraskaars.

RMIM, for those not aware, is the popular name of an Internet newsgroup rec.music.indian.misc. Formed in 1992, it is arguably the oldest community of Hindi Film Music (HFM) lovers on the net. It is an unmoderated and open forum to discuss all kinds of Indian music except classical.

RMIM Puraskaars, though borrow the name from the newsgroup, are not restricted to the newsgroup alone. These awards voice the opinion of HFM listeners scattered all over the Internet including on other forums, groups, networks, and blogs.

The aim of the Puraskaars is to put listeners on the seat of decision. To honor and highlight the better works by a collective and informed analysis. At the same time, we want to make a note of all works of significance. More than to award a particular artist, album, or song, the larger idea is to have a review of the year's music and document it for posterity. Read the introductory post for some more reasons.

चौथे आरएमआइएम पुरस्कारों में आपका स्वागत है.

जिन्हें जानकारी न हो उनके लिए बता दूँ कि आरएमआइएम (RMIM) एक इंटरनेट न्यूज़ग्रूप rec.music.indian.misc का लोकप्रिय और संक्षिप्त नाम है. इस समूह का गठन 1992 में हुआ था और संभवतः इंटरनेट पर हिंदी फ़िल्म संगीत के चाहने वालों की यह सबसे पुरानी जमात है. इस खुले और अमध्यस्थित समूह पर शास्त्रीय संगीत के सिवाय अन्य सभी प्रकार के भारतीय संगीत के बारे में चर्चा की जा सकती है.

आरएमआइएम पुरस्कारों का नाम ज़रूर RMIM चर्चासमूह से लिया गया है पर ये पुरस्कार इस समूह तक ही सीमित नहीं हैं. ये पुरस्कार इंटरनेट भर पर फैले संगीत प्रेमियों की पसंद का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हैं. आप चाहे किसी भी समूह से हों.

इन पुरस्कारों का ध्येय श्रोता को निर्णय का अधिकार देना है. बेहतर गीतों और कलाकारों को एक सामूहिक विश्लेषण प्रक्रिया के जरिये पहचानना है. साथ ही, हम यह भी चाहते हैं कि साल के सभी महत्वपूर्ण गीतों से हमारा परिचय हो पाए. किसी एक कलाकार या एलबम या गाने को पुरस्कृत करने की बजाय हमारा व्यापक उद्देश्य यह है कि साल भर के संगीत की एक समीक्षा और उसका दस्तावेजीकरण हो जाए. इन पुरस्कारों की शुरुआत के बारे में और जानने के लिए यह परिचय पोस्ट पढ़ें.
